IPL Auction 2021 Updates

Chris Morris (RR) became the costliest ever player at the IPL auction. While Krishnappa Gowtham (CSK) became the costliest Indian uncapped player at the IPL 2021 auction. Chennai Super Kings decided to take Cheteshwar Pujara.

A total of 292 players were registered for the shortened auctions — 164 of them were Indian and 125 overseas. There would be three associate players as well in the auction.

Teams like Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals have opted to rebuild their squad whereas Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals have their first team sorted with the fewest slots remaining to fill.

With 61 slots across eight franchises up for grabs, Royal Challengers Bangalore has the maximum, 11 vacancies, to fill with a purse of Rs 35.4 crore. While Sunrisers Hyderabad has only three slots available with Rs 10.75 crore in its purse. The highest purse available is with Anil Kumble coached ‘Punjab Kings’, formerly Kings XI Punjab, which has Rs 53.20 crore available for spending on nine spots.
