England levelled the three-match ODI series against India after beating the hosts by six wickets in the second outing at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Friday.
Sent to bat first, the Virat Kohli-led team put up 336/6 on the scoreboard at the end of their innings. After India lost both their openers quickly, Kohli (66) and KL Rahul (108) built a 100+ partnership. Rishabh Pant (77) and Hardik Pandya (35) started a storm of sixes in the final ten overs, scoring a massive 126 runs.
In pursuit, England stayed on top from the outset. Thanks to a critical century partnership between Jason Roy (55) and Jonny Bairstow (124). In the middle overs, Ben Stokes’ 52-ball 99 propelled the chase past the hosts. And then debutant Liam Livingstone directed England over the line with 39 balls remaining.
