Royal Challengers Bangalore registered themselves their third consecutive victory over Kolkata Knight Riders with 38 runs at the 10th match of the Vivo IPL 2021.The match took place at the MA Chidambaram stadium where Viral Kohli’s RCB won the toss to choose to bat first. The man of the match was AB De Villiers.
Early wickets to top batsmen of KKR bagged RCB the win
When it came to the batting of Kolkata Knight Riders, Shubman Gill lost the first wicket of KKR in just 27 runs. After 4 overs, a direct hit might have landed one of high hopes of Kolkata and put Rahul Tripati in trouble, however the fielder missed that. KKR bit the dust for the second time when Washington Sundar took the second wicket of Tripati after 6 overs, landing KKR at 57/2. The hopes of Kolkata were very high with Nitish Rana however, he too was taken by Yuzvendra Chahal just after the 7th over.

Next came Dinesh Kartik who was trapped in front of the wickets when Chahal took his second wicket putting KKR’s tally at 75/4 in 9 overs. The game got interesting after that as captain Morgan came to bat and KKR needed 122 runs in 60 balls but he had a little partnership with Shakib Al Hasan. The two had brought back the hopes of KKR in winning this match, however Harshal Patel at the 15th over took the wicket of captain Morgan. The only hope left for KKR was Andre Russel.

As the match seemed to slip away from Kolkata, Andre Russel needed to fire up and score 84 in 30 deliveries. When Chahal came to bowl at the 17th over, Russel smashed him with a 20 in a single over. The fans of RCB got a little tensed but the boys of Kohli did not lose heart. When Kyle Jamieson came to bowl, he took the wicket of Hasan and brought a big relief to captain Kohli. In that same over he dismissed Pat Cummins who hit a sixer in his first match as a batsman.

The team had a stale beginning because Varun Chakraborty, the game changing player of KKR took two wickets in the second over of the match, one of captain Kohli and the second of Rajat Patidar. However, when Glen Maxwell came to bat, he could not be stopped till he scored a cracking 78 in 49 balls.AB De Villiers too scored a magnificent 55 runs in 27 balls.
