Sanjay Bangar Replaced Vikram Rathour
Before being replaced by Vikram Rathour at the start of the home season in September, Bangar was involved with the Indian team as the batting coach from 2014 to 2019. The 48-year-old batting coach’s last assignment was the West Indies tour, following the ODI World Cup’s conclusion.
Bangar has formerly worked with Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) as head coach, previously selected as the assistant coach. KXIP registered their maiden arrival in the final of the cash-rich league in 2014, during the tenure of the former Indian cricketer. He continued with the franchise for three more seasons, before giving up on the position.
Mike Hesson, the director of cricket operations for RCB and Simon Katich, will join 48-year-old as a part of the coaching team. The Bangalore based franchise also have Adam Griffith as the bowling coach, with Sridharan Sriram as batting and spin-bowling coach.
RCB’s Director of Cricket Operations Mike Hesson said in an official release, “delighted to a add Coach of Sanjay Bangar’s experience to our existing coaching team led by Head Coach Simon Katich.”
RCB released ten players ahead of the player auction for IPL 2021. It also includes five overseas players. The auction will take place in Chennai on February 18. The Bangalore-based franchise has traded in all-rounders Harshal Patel and Daniel Sams from Delhi Capitals (DC). Virat Kohli will once again lead RCB again in IPL 2021.
