The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has said that they have taken this decision in consultation with Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA). This decision was taken after a long detailed discussion with the state and local health authorities. BCCI further said that it will continue to follow all the regulations put in place to prevent the Covid-19 virus from spreading. It will always prioritize the health and safety of its fans and stakeholders.
According to a BCCi official, over 50,000 tickets were sold for the 1st T20I between India and England. Over 65,000 were sold for the second match. These tickets were sold in accordance with the 50% capacity rule set by the GCA.
Gujarat Cricket Association has also assured that those who have already booked the tickets for the match will be refunded.
Notably, the ODI series between India and England which have been scheduled to take place in Pune will also be played behind closed doors.
